What's Included in a Deep Clean? A Room-by-Room Checklist
What a professional deep clean actually covers in a Winnipeg home — oven, behind the fridge, carpets, marks on the walls, steam on grout and fixtures — and the one thing that's extra.
“Deep clean” is one of those phrases every cleaning company uses and almost none of them define. One company means a longer version of a regular visit. Another means the regular visit plus the baseboards. So before you compare prices, it’s worth knowing what you’re actually comparing.
Here’s exactly what our deep clean covers in a lived-in Winnipeg home — room by room, including the parts most companies charge extra for — and the one thing that isn’t in the price.
The short version
A deep clean goes after the build-up a regular clean never reaches. In our deep clean that means:
- The oven, inside — racks, door glass, baked-on grease
- The fridge, inside and behind — cleaned out, then pulled away from the wall so we can clean the floor, wall and sides behind it
- Carpets, machine-cleaned — if the home has carpet, it’s part of the job
- Marks off walls, doors and furniture — scuffs, handprints, splashes
- A steamer on the tough spots — grout, floor edges and corners, taps, the base of the toilet
- Every room in detail — baseboards, door frames, switches, handles, sills
The only add-on is inside the cabinets and drawers, because that means emptying them first, and not every home needs it.
Kitchen
The kitchen is where a deep clean earns its price, because grease doesn’t wipe off — it builds in layers.
- Oven, inside: racks out and soaked, the interior and door glass degreased, the baked-on layer on the floor of the oven worked off rather than smeared around. If it’s been a while, our guide on cleaning an oven properly explains why this is the slowest job in the house.
- Fridge, inside and behind: shelves and drawers out and washed, interior wiped down — then the fridge comes away from the wall. Behind a fridge is usually a mix of dust, crumbs and the occasional lost magnet, on a floor nobody has seen since the fridge went in. We clean the floor, the wall and the sides, then push it back. (More on what lives back there in cleaning a fridge before a move.)
- Stovetop, backsplash, range hood exterior: degreased, including the knobs and the gap along the edges of the stove.
- Counters, sink and faucet: the faucet base and the sink drain area get the steamer — that’s where scale and grime sit.
- Cabinet fronts and handles: the sticky film around the handles is grease plus hands, and it comes off.
Bathrooms
- Tile and grout: this is where the steamer does most of its work. Steam lifts the grey film out of grout lines that a brush on its own only polishes.
- Tub, shower and glass: soap scum and hard-water film removed, shower door tracks steamed out.
- Toilet, inside and out: including the base and the bolts at the floor — another steamer job, because that’s where grime hides.
- Sink, taps, mirror, cabinet front: taps de-scaled at the base, not just wiped on top.
- Floor: edges and corners steamed, not just the open middle.
Every room
- Carpets machine-cleaned: if a room has carpet, we run a carpet machine over it — shampoo and extraction, not just a vacuum. We work around heavy furniture like beds and sofas; the open, walked-on carpet is what gets cleaned.
- Marks off walls, doors and furniture: scuffs along hallways, handprints around light switches, splashes on doors, marks on furniture surfaces. Some marks are paint damage rather than dirt, and no amount of cleaning removes those — we’ll tell you if that’s what we’re looking at. Our piece on cleaning walls covers which marks come off and which need a touch-up instead.
- Baseboards, door frames, tops of doors: the dust line nobody looks at until it’s pointed out.
- Light switches, outlet covers, handles: the most-touched surfaces in the house.
- Window sills and reachable interior glass. Full inside-and-out window cleaning is a separate service — see window cleaning.
- Hard floors: vacuumed and washed, with the steamer along the edges and in the corners where a mop leaves a grey line.
What’s not included
- Inside cabinets and drawers — an add-on, priced by home size, because it means emptying them first.
- Anything above two storeys outside, or exterior windows — that’s window cleaning.
- Repairs. Stains that have become damage — a burn in a counter, a carpet stain that’s bleached the fibre, paint that’s come off with a mark — are past cleaning. We’ll point them out rather than pretend.
How much it costs

| 2 bedrooms | $325 |
| 3 bedrooms | $405 |
| 4 bedrooms | $490 |

Each extra full bathroom is about $65. The full cost breakdown, with worked examples, is in how much a deep clean costs in Winnipeg.
Deep clean or move-out clean?
A deep clean is for a home you’re living in, worked around your furniture. If the home is going to be empty — you’re handing over keys on a possession date, or moving in before your furniture arrives — you want a move-out clean instead. It’s cheaper, because an empty house is faster to clean. We explain the difference in move-out cleaning vs. deep cleaning.
